Chiropractic and Chronic Low Back Pain

New research published in Spine has revealed that receiving monthly maintenance chiropractic care for chronic low back pain results in significantly greater improvements in pain levels and disability.  The clinical journal Spine is one of the premiere research publications for the study of the human spine and it's associated conditions.  The study examined the effects of once a month maintenance visits, following an exacerbation of a chronic complaint, using chiropractic manipulation to the low back.  Patients reported decreased pain and disability scores on outcome surveys done during and after the one year study period.  In addition to decreased pain levels, the patients in the treatment maintenance group also had increased and sustained increases in range of motion in their spines.  This study joins an increasing body of evidence recommending regular spinal check ups with chiropractic care, especially for the chronic back pain sufferer.
